Good afternoon. I work as a teacher at KSU named after Korkyt ata in Kyzylorda city. In 2016-2017 academic year, I am going to enter Your University for PhD studies on a fee-paying basis. In this regard, I have some questions:

1) How much will the tuition fee for PhD studies cost;

2) Do you have a PhD in "Accounting and auditing"?

3) Do you offer any discount on payment of tuition fee for PhD studies;

4) Please explain what is the difference between a scientific degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) and a degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD)? Is there a difference between them?  And at what level the status of a PhD without the prefix "scientific" will be?

Good afternoon, Akmaral Abilassanovna.

In response to your questions about admission to the PhD program on a paid basis I kindly inform you:

1. The tuition fee for PhD studies at "Almaty Management University" is 4 500 000 tenge for the whole period of studies (3 years). Each year of studies costs 1 500 000 tenge.

2. "Almaty Management University" provides PhD training on specialties 6D050700 – Management, 6D050900 – Finance, 6D051100 Marketing, 6D052000 – Business administration. Unfortunately, we do not have the license to train doctors PhD on the specialty 6D050800 – Accounting and auditing.

3. There are no any discounts provided.

4. According to State compulsory standards of postgraduate education, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 23, 2012 No. 1080 about “State compulsory educational standards of corresponding levels of education" with amendments and additions dated  May 13, 2016 No. 292, point 10. Section 2 the training programmes of doctoral studies focuses on the training with the award of the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) and doctor on profile. In SСES there is no concept of the scientific degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD).

The degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) involves conducting scientific research, has scientific and pedagogical orientation and involves fundamental educational, methodological and research preparation and profound study of disciplines in relevant areas of science for the system of higher and postgraduate education and scientific sphere.

In case of positive decision of the Committee for control in education and science of Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the results of the examination, students who have fully fulfilled the educational program of doctoral studies and successfully defended their doctoral dissertation are awarded with the degree “doctor of philosophy (PhD)” or “doctor on profile” and the state-recognized diploma with the attachment (transcript).

Good afternoon, my daughter applied for one of specialties at your University. That time at admissions office she was said that it was not really possible to get the grant with her grades. When it was time to fill in forms for the grant, as she did it for the first time she was told to fill in one specialty and to one your University, thus the child was deprived of the opportunity to participate in 3 competitions on 3 specialties and at 3 Universities, of course she discovered it only by results of grants. There were specialties for which she could get the grant with her points if she pointed them the list 2, 3, and 4. So your University is interested that children received few grants and entered your university on a fee-paying basis. Or University is not obliged to advise on the filling in applications for grant. The utter frustration because of lack of information we lost the opportunity to enter for free, if your admissions office had advised how to fill in applications correctly, listing 3 specialties, not just one, and noting your University, maybe the child would have received the grant. We wanted the best University, but it turned out that the University intentionally limits you from the chance to study for free and it is glad to see you on only as paying students.

Answer: The work of Admissions office includes such format when applicants and their parents are introduced to the official document –Regulation "About the educational grants and discounts". The applicants fill in the official form together with under the supervision of the technical secretary. They are mandatorily informed (recommended) how to fill in all points of the form, writing in universities, specialties, language of studies. The information, the score of UNT, KTA are mandatorily re-checked. In no way we do not agitate to apply for the grant only to our University. It contradicts all principles and norms of not only the University but also the "Regulations about the state educational grants...» I find your accusations of consultants, technical secretaries and Admissions officers to be inappropriate and factually incorrect. Your generalization: "So your University is interested that children received few grants and entered your university on a fee-paying basis..." is far-fetched and subjective, quite understandable emotions and discontent of parents and the applicant, but making such conclusions are unacceptable. I kindly ask the author of the statement to indicate the name of your child to confirm the groundlessness of the statement.

What is different about FBT from HSSPP?

Answer: The Faculty of basic training (FBT) is a structural subdivision of Almaty Management University, which provides basic training for the first year students.

High school of state and public policy (HSSPP) is a structural subdivision of Almaty Management University; it was created in 2013 in accordance with the strategic priorities of the University to form a model of continuous education in the field of public administration.

The school trains students on specialties of "Regional Studies", "Jurisprudence", "Public relations" and "State and local government" from the 2-nd year to the 4-th year. Also there is the admission and training for MBA: Management in education, Management in the public sector, Management in the non-profit sector.

Answer: According to the "Rules of organization of educational process on credit technology of training", approved by order of MES RK №152 dated April 20, 2011 retaking of the assessment in order to increase the level of GPA is permitted only to current students, i.e. the person who is studying at the University of the current day. Rakhmanov I. Zh. is a graduate of 2014, when he graduated he got a diploma with specified achievement result GPA of 2.96. Thus, the re-mastering and/or retaking of exams is not available for graduates.

The first education I received at Baku Islamic University, faculty of Religious studies, I would like to get the second education at your University. Answer: Good afternoon, Orkhan! You can enter our university on the program of the Second higher distance education. Duration of training is 2 years. The advantage of this program is that the learning process is carried out remotely, via the portal of our University.

The tuition for the program of Second higher distance education is 170 MCI for one year of study (1 MCI=2 121 tenge for 1 January 2016). MCI changes once a year on January 1 -st every year.

Good afternoon! I would like to know about the possibilities of red diploma. While studying at MAB College, I knew that the diploma gives you an advantage when entering in terms of tuition discount of 25%. Now, working in a Bank for two years, I realized that I want to enter the distance bachelor course of "Management". I passed the CTA. Documents in AlmaU. A consultant of the University said that the 25% discount does not work for distance education. But, what about the information on the website? There are no clarifications about the form of training, and my budget is already planned for days and volume. What is to be done? "As an offer - to provide a discount, since it was stated on the page about discounts to students with red diploma. For comparison, in Turan, a Kazakh Law Academy - advantages of red diploma cover distance learning.   

Answer: You are right, for MAB College graduates, owners of the red diploma 25% discount is valid, but only for full-time studies. According to the internal regulation of the University, the discounts are not applied for distance learning.

Good afternoon! Are you going to increase tuition fee for the last year of studies?

Answer: Good afternoon, Zholshybek! Tuition fees for Bachelor degree is given in MCI (minimum calculation index). MCI changes once every year.

The amount of tuition fee changes once a year after the first year and remains fixed at 2, 3, 4 courses in MCI, the amount of tenge depends on changes in this index (information for the 2016-2017 academic year).

For Master's program the cost does not change.

Good afternoon dear Rеctоr! My child became a student of your University that certainly made us feel happy. But with the beginning of the academic year my child’s schedule changes constantly. But the bigger question, which worries us, is the question of six-day studies. Our timetable is six days with total number of 22 hours a week, but after looking through the timetable of other specialties which have 25 hours and all of them fit into five days, the question arises how optimal it is. In the timetable there are days when there are only two or three hours, but there are days when there are five lessons. Is it possible to join these hours which are two and three hours a day and make a five-day timetable? As we live far, it is a very long way to go to university for the child, and if this day there are two or three lessons, then it's a waste of time on the road, and for the whole day. We worry about the child while he was in the road, and moreover recently the child told us that a student was hit in a crosswalk near the University, and we would like our child to go for full day of lessons rather than two or three hours which still doesn't start at 8 but sometimes at 10 or 11 o’clock. I hope our concerns and suggestions about the five-day timetable will find a response from you.

Good day! I am a first year student of “Finance” specialty.

Regarding the subject "Introduction into entrepreneurship", I would like to have more hours of this subject because the knowledge we get in this discipline is really applicable and very useful. I also want to draw Your attention to the condition of the gym, 70% of the equipment is not working properly, please, if possible, take appropriate measures.

Answer: The number of hours allotted for the subject "Introduction into entrepreneurship" is 2 credits (15 theory, 30 practical). This number of hours corresponds to the approved Working curriculum (RUP). The change in hours at the request of students is possible due to the reduction of hours in other subjects.

As for the status of the gym : the gym is open from 2009. There are in total 14 machines, including: treadmills - 3 pieces, stationary bicycles - 2 pcs., multigym - 1, etc. Some of the equipment are really out of order, but this year we are planning to purchase new equipment.

Good afternoon! Why are books in the electronic library impossible to download? I called the University, nobody could give clear answers.

Answer: To download e-books you need to register in the electronic library systems and to get a login, and the password for each electronic database is separate. After that you can remotely download 10-15% of the total volume of books according to the "Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 10, 1996 № 6-I "About copyright and related rights" (with changes and amendments as for 24.11.2015).

Answer: Nazerke Darynkyzy, the state grant belongs to Suleyman Demirel University only. You will not be able to study at our University for a grant, the grant is not effective. There are groups on specialty "accounting and auditing" in English.

I lost my diploma. How can I urgently restore my diploma? I live in the city of Astana, finished a bachelor program in 2010.

Answer: According to the standards of the state service "Issue of a duplicate of the diploma of higher education" you must apply to CSC in Astana for a duplicate diploma and attachments. Your application will be forwarded by CSC courier to "Almaty Management University". University will issue the order "About the issuance of a duplicate diploma" on basis of CSC documents (application and supporting documents of the applicant) and will prepare a duplicate of the diploma. In due time CSC courier receives a duplicate diploma at University. The applicant receives a ready duplicate diploma at the place of application, CSC of Astana.
