New Teachers’ acquaintance with AlmaU
On September 7, 2019, the team of the Institute for Educational Development - Center for Teaching Excellence spent an orientation day for new teachers of AlmaU.
The event started unusually with the demonstration of Chinese tea ceremony which set the atmosphere of hospitality and comfort for all participants. Students of the School of Hospitality and Tourism told the story, significance and importance of the tea ceremony in the east.
Then AlmaU Rector Gulmira Kurganbaeva took the floor and in a welcoming speech focused on the synergy of the teacher and the student. And she also wished new teachers success and implementation of creative teaching solutions.
The highlight of the event was a quiz conducted by the team of Institute for Educational Development on knowledge of history and interesting facts about the university. Every one of the quiz participants got a promotional gift. It was interesting to watch the new teachers’ active involvement.
Then all the participants went to the conference room, where AlmaU teacher initiation ceremony took place. Square caps were solemnly handed over by professors, honored teachers and university staff to newly initiated colleagues, and they pronounced AlmaU teacher’s oath.
After the initiation ceremony, the following speakers spoke: Almagul Kanagatova "Personal capitalization of AlmaU teacher", Asel Aryn "Competency Model: I-blocks of AlmaU educational programs", Aiymgul Tleuzhanova, Aigerim Kaumenova "International and Research Opportunities for Faculty" and Akmaral Altalieva "About the work of AlmaU Council of Ombudsman".
First Vice-Rector Almagul Kanagatova presented memorable gifts to new teachers and wished them success. By tradition, there was an exchange of views and wishes of more experienced university teachers with a new staff. In a word, it was a demonstration of continuity and openness in everything, as the main criteria of the educational process of the university.
It was the most memorable day for new teachers, and they are going to be involved in active university life, and most importantly - in working with students.
