Ulytau Project

Dear friends!

Almaty Management University presents to your attention the program of the innovative project on studying the Kazakh language “Cultural and linguistic camp “Ulytau”

We invite everyone who wants to master the Kazakh language and get to know the culture, customs and traditions of the Kazakhs better.

1. Language training

Four-level intensive training in the Kazakh language (karapayim, bastauysh, ortasha, zhalgastyrushy), acquaintance with the culture of the Kazakh people: 40 lessons in groups of 10 people.

2. Study of traditions

Specially designed textbooks and workbooks, in which the language material is supported by the study of traditions, rituals, and cultural heritage of the Kazakhs.

3. Immersion in the environment

Full immersion in the linguistic and cultural environment: living in conditions close to the life of a Kazakh village. The summer camp of yurts is located in the foothills of the Zailiysky Alatau in the Almaty region.

4. Excursions

Visiting unique architectural monuments of the 13th – 19th centuries and holy places, excavations of ancient burial mounds, protected areas.

5. “ULYTAU” IS:

Participation in master classes of folk artisans, musicians, dancers;

Horseback riding skills, setting up a yurt, familiarity with the customs of hospitality;

Playful performances of traditional rituals, national games;

Songs, proverbs, catchphrases, reading literature;

Watching Kazakh feature films;

Kazakh national cuisine.
