Gulnar Turdalievna, Rector of Almaty Management University, took part in the annual summit of the Alliance of Silk Road Universities-2023 (UASR) in Xi’an. At the forum, experts and scientists from around the world discussed the development and innovations of higher education in the context of a new technological revolution.
In 2015, Xi’an Jiaotong University initiated the creation of the Silk Road University Alliance. The Alliance aims to promote cooperation in the field of higher education, student exchange, enrichment of their educational experience, intercultural communication, as well as the development of joint projects and research, increasing mutual understanding and friendship between students, developing their comprehensive talents and contributing to the economic growth of countries located along the historical route of the Silk Road and in the modern Eurasian region.
7 universities from Kazakhstan took part in the summit. The ceremony of joining 14 new universities to the Alliance took place, including Almaty Management University.
Gulnar Kurenkeeva spoke at the panel session “Towards a community common to humanity: educational cooperation “One Belt, one Road:
“We have always been pioneers of business education in Kazakhstan, teaching management to aspiring entrepreneurs of the country. AlmaU presented the first MBA and DBA programs in Kazakhstan. We are proud of our exceptional academic staff and the achievements of our graduates. The connection between the historical Silk Road and AlmaU is not only geographical, but also symbolic. Our university acts as a bridge between tradition and innovation, embracing the values of the Silk Road – peace and friendship, openness and inclusivity, mutual learning and mutual benefit. We are all entering a new era, where instead of competitors there are partners, where obstacles are new challenges, and the Silk Road University Alliance is a platform for cooperation of the best practices, minds and solutions.”
Within the framework of the forum, the Hong Kong Government’s Bureau of Education held a special meeting with universities in Central Asia. The next presidency of the Alliance will be held at the University of Hong Kong. By the way, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a reliable partner of Almaty University Management.
