On March 27-29 the international AI in Healthcare Hackathon 2026 was held at Central Asian University in Tashkent, bringing together young researchers and developers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine.
Over the course of three days, participants developed solutions for real clinical challenges, working in teams, and engaging closely with industry experts.
A team of AlmaU students representing SDTE and the School of Media and Film ranked among the top performers, securing 7th place out of 54 teams from 13 countries.
This result became the highest among universities representing Kazakhstan. The AlmaU team outperformed teams from Satbayev University, KBTU, Zhubanov University, Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, International IT University, and Astana Medical University.
The final ranking highlighted the high level of international competition:
- 1st place – United States of America
- 2nd place – Uzbekistan
- 3rd place – South Korea
For AlmaU students, participation in the hackathon was not only a competition but also an opportunity to gain experience in a global professional environment, where ideas are tested through practice and technologies directly interact with human life.
