AlmaU launches professional development program for faculty of the Graduate School of Business: «Transformation of teaching competencies: AI, Digital and ESG»

11.03.2026

On March 11, AlmaU launched a professional development program for faculty of the Graduate School of Business titled “Transformation of Teaching Competencies: AI, Digital and ESG.”

The first module of the program, “ESG in the Academic Process,” was held on the same day. The session was conducted by Zhanniya Khaibullina, PhD doctoral candidate and Director of the AlmaU Center for Sustainable Development, and Rustam Akhmetov, Candidate of Legal Sciences, EMBA, Professor of Practice at the Graduate School of Business.

During the first session, participants discussed key ESG trends and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as approaches to integrating sustainability principles into academic programs. Special attention was given to the use of ESG case studies and project-based learning in the academic process.

In the near future, faculty members will participate in four additional practice-oriented modules focused on modern digital tools and the development of teaching competencies.

Module 2. AI as a Strategic Partner
Application of artificial intelligence in academic and research work: context engineering, fact-checking, NotebookLM, literature review preparation, and no-code data analysis.
Result: a personal AI pipeline for working on one’s research or academic topic.

Module 3. AI Visualization and Media
Tools for data visualization and creation of educational content: presentations, infographics, generative images, video and audio, as well as educational and methodological materials.
Result: a package of ready-to-use materials including a presentation, infographics, media content, and a set of working prompts.

Module 4. Digital Foundation
Development of a digital working environment for faculty: web services, AlmaU corporate applications, and the basics of digital hygiene.
Result: a configured digital workspace and a checklist for course management.

Module 5. AI and No-Code Tools
Creation of educational services without programming: case platforms, decision-making simulators, gamification elements, and analytics dashboards.
Result: three ready-to-implement products — a case hub, a simulator, and an analytics dashboard.

The program was designed in response to the current needs of faculty members. Among its key objectives are optimizing time spent on routine tasks such as grading assignments, preparing teaching materials, and communicating with students, as well as mastering modern digital tools and artificial intelligence technologies.

The program also places special emphasis on the development of interactive and visual learning formats and the integration of sustainability principles (ESG) into academic courses.

The training is delivered in short, practice-oriented modules, enabling faculty members not only to learn about new tools but also to immediately apply them in their teaching practice.

A distinctive feature of the program is its practical focus: each module concludes with the creation of a specific tool or material that faculty members can incorporate into their courses. The program aims to develop modern teaching competencies and support faculty in transforming the educational process through the use of AI technologies, digital tools, and sustainable development principles.
