On January 15-16, 2026, the Forum entitled “Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Current State and Development Prospects” was held in Astana. The event was jointly organized by the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Nazarbayev University.
The Forum brought together heads of higher and postgraduate education institutions, representatives of government bodies, international organizations, the expert community, as well as specialists in accreditation and quality assessment in education. The event was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek. The AlmaU team was also among the Forum participants.

During the first day, international workshops were conducted with the participation of representatives of the accreditation agencies QAA, ASIIN, and NAAR. The discussions focused on preparing universities for international accreditation, fostering a sustainable quality culture, and developing the export of educational services.
The program of the second day included thematic sessions devoted to modern approaches to assessing the quality of research outcomes of PhD doctoral students, the development and improvement of internal quality assurance systems in higher and postgraduate education institutions, as well as issues related to regulatory and licensing policies in this field.

The key event of the Forum was a plenary session dedicated to the current state and future development of the quality assurance system in higher education and science, as well as the impact of technological and regulatory transformations on the sphere of higher and postgraduate education.
Following the Forum, participants emphasized the importance of further strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, expanding international cooperation, and implementing best international practices within the national system of higher and postgraduate education.
