On April 10, the Urban Institute AlmaU held a formal certificate awarding ceremony for participants of the first cohort of an intensive training and retraining program for public servants in the fields of architecture, urban planning, construction, and land relations. The program is being implemented in accordance with the protocol instruction of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar.

A total of 26 participants from 6 regions of Kazakhstan successfully completed the training. Over the course of one week, public servants attended the program “Urban Development Management: Evidence-Based Approach and Project Methods in Urbanism,” aimed at developing modern professional competencies in urban governance and territorial planning.
The program featured 10 speakers – experts and practitioners in urban development – who presented contemporary approaches and international experience.
It also included lectures, case study analyses, and field visits to the Center for Labor Mobility of Almaty and the Almaty Transport Holding (ONAY!), where participants learned practical tools for analyzing urban infrastructure, transport planning, and mechanisms of interaction with citizens.

Certificates were awarded by Renata Kudaibergenova, Vice-Rector for Science and Commercialization at AlmaU, who congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of upskilling professionals involved in decision-making for urban development.
