AlmaU strives for gender equality and diversity, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), offering equal opportunities for study, work, self-development and communication. 57.53% of AlmaU students are women. Programs and extracurricular activities are aimed at empowering young women for life, professional growth and stable work. AlmaU tracks the number of applications, as well as the number of accepted and incoming women, in order to maintain gender balance in the student body.

University programs for the implementation of gender equality

The university measures the number of women enrolled. The Marketing Department measures women’s applications and enrollment statistics and reports to the Academic Council annually in September. Every year in early October, AlmaU sends a report to the government, which measures the number of women’s applications, the number of accepted/enrolled and completion of studies. The Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Kazakhstan annually monitors the number of applications from women, the number of accepted/enrolled and the percentage of completion of studies at the national level.

The AlmaU Student Support Center tracks gender statistics in the distribution of diplomas among graduates. As part of its strategy to eliminate the gender gap, the university regularly analyzes data on academic performance and program completion to identify potential shortcomings and barriers for students.

AlmaU actively supports women, including mothers, by creating conditions for their comfortable education and work. The university provides special changing tables, which allows young mothers to conveniently take care of children on campus.
