On December 9, AlmaU hosted the AlmaU Impact Pitch Day – an event created as a platform for students to present socially significant and innovative projects aimed at addressing current societal challenges.
The participants were undergraduate and graduate students of AlmaU, and the event was organized by the university’s Center for Sustainable Development.
The event opened with a welcome speech from the President of AlmaU, Asylbek Bazarbayevich Kozhakhmetov. In his address, he emphasized that AlmaU has long been known as a hub for impact-driven initiatives that create real change and contribute to the development of society.
An inspiring message was also delivered by the Vice-Rector for Global Partnership, Sholpan Tazabek.
AlmaU Impact Pitch Day aims to support active and responsible young people, and within the framework of the event, participants were tasked with the following:

Promoting the culture of social entrepreneurship and sustainable development among students, fostering interest in projects that improve quality of life.

Developing skills in responsible management and impact thinking, enabling future leaders to think broadly and consider the long-term effects of their decisions.

Creating an open platform for presenting student projects aimed at solving modern social, environmental, and economic challenges.

Identifying and supporting young innovators ready to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implement socially impactful projects.

Encouraging an interdisciplinary approach that combines business, technology, creative industries, and social practices to develop effective and innovative solutions.

Based on the project presentations, the best initiatives received financial support as seed funding:

1st place – 100,000 KZT: “Microplant” by Alikhan Imanberdiev and Aldiyar Makhmetov

2nd place – 70,000 KZT: “Tiny Heart” by Dariga Kenesbek and Aibarsyn Shegebai

3rd place – 50,000 KZT: “Komek” by the team of Elina Karamergenova, Valeria Urazhanova, Daniil Kuryin, Marsel Mustafin, and Ravil Khusnutdinov

The goal of the event is to support active AlmaU students and help them realize their potential through the development and promotion of socially beneficial initiatives.
AlmaU Impact Pitch Day has become a significant platform for fostering student initiatives and building a community of young leaders dedicated to creating sustainable, inclusive, and innovative change in Kazakhstan and beyond.
