AlmaU University is actively implementing Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life below water).
AlmaU is a socially responsible university that adheres to the goals of sustainable development and annually organizes environmental projects. Since 2019, an ice crossing has been taking place, the project “Uly Balkhash shakyrady” (“Great Balkhash Lake calls”), initiated and implemented by the GSB team, is aimed at preserving the nature and fauna of Lake Balkhash, which is the 15th largest lake in the world.
From March 1 to March 3, 2024, the first eco-volunteer project “Syr qorany – sekseýil” was held in the Kyzylorda region. The mission of this project is to restore the ecosystem of the region and protect it from the consequences of the ecological disaster of the Aral Sea. To achieve the goal of Almaty Management University attracted about 80 volunteers. The participants, with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as local executive bodies, planted 5,100 saplings of saxaul on the bottom of the Aral Sea.
