On March 18, 2026, Almaty Management University (AlmaU) welcomed a delegation from Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU) on a working visit. The meeting marked an important step in strengthening international ties and opened new prospects for bilateral cooperation.
KNEU was represented by:
- Oleksandr Vostriakov, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management;
- Mykhailo Sahaidak, Head of the Department of Management.

During the meeting, AlmaU representatives delivered a presentation about the university, introducing its academic structure and key educational programs in economics, management, and business. In turn, the KNEU delegation presented their institution and shared their experience in organizing academic processes and conducting research.
The Ukrainian colleagues expressed particular interest in the specifics of economic education and research development in Kazakhstan, as well as in the academic environment and educational approaches implemented at AlmaU.
As a result of the meeting, several strategic areas for collaboration were identified. In the field of academic mobility, the universities agreed to further explore mechanisms for student and faculty exchange, including teaching mobility programs for visiting lecturers. These initiatives will create new opportunities for international internships, professional development, and the integration of best practices from both countries into the academic process.
An important item on the agenda was cooperation in research. A preliminary agreement was reached to collaborate on academic publications, including mutual peer review and the publication of research by both universities’ authors in partner peer-reviewed journals. The parties also discussed the prospect of joint supervision of PhD students, which will elevate academic cooperation to a new level and strengthen the training of research professionals.

One of the most ambitious initiatives, currently under development, is the proposal to launch a joint project with the Startup School of the Institute of Entrepreneurship. The parties are considering implementing projects in an online format, enabling students from both universities to collaboratively develop startup ideas and receive expert and mentoring support. Both sides recognize strong potential in combining efforts to support student entrepreneurship and the commercialization of innovative projects.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of open dialogue and mutual interest in long-term cooperation. Following the discussions, the parties agreed to continue working on and further developing the outlined initiatives.
We thank our colleagues from KNEU for their visit and look forward to a productive and long-term partnership!
