As part of the InnoBoost Winter 2024 Commercialization Program (held from January 30 to March 28, 2024), in collaboration with AlmaU’s Technology Commercialization Center, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona State University), one participant introduced their project, “CleanO2 Modular Units Based on STEXS Adsorbent,” to students and city residents.
This program aimed to support scientific projects focused on the commercialization of innovations in research and development (R&D). With a particular emphasis on agriculture, medicine, sustainable development, and mining and mineral processing, the program provided a unique platform for promoting innovative projects.
Project Name: CleanO2 Modular Units Based on STEXS Adsorbent
Problem the product solves:
It purifies industrial emissions into the atmosphere.
Project Description:
The project involves producing modular installations for air purification from emissions into the atmosphere. The technology, CleanO2, is of the participant’s own design.
Project Uniqueness:
The filler in these units is an adsorbent called STEXS, an innovative development by Oleg Konstantinovich Albu. This invention has no analogs globally. The STEXS adsorbent possesses unique adsorption properties at the molecular level in aqueous environments, allowing it to separate harmful substances from atmospheric emissions (smoke, sewer vapors, acidic steam emissions, etc.) as well as from wastewater.
How many installations have been launched? What are the results? Where are they located? What is the nature of these enterprises? Are there any reviews or recorded outcomes?
The first research-based three-modular CleanO2 installation was installed and launched on December 25, 2019, in Astana (Nur-Sultan) at KNS No. 8 station (Esil district) of the municipal enterprise “Astana Su Arnasy,” located at the intersection of Sarayshik Street and Kabanbai Batyr Avenue.
Research was conducted for over two years without replacing the STEXS adsorbent, requiring only periodic water refills, no more than 10 liters per quarter. The effectiveness of odor purification using our equipment has been confirmed by an independent research laboratory and the laboratory of “Astana Su Arnasy” itself.
Specifically, emissions of foul odors into the atmosphere at KNS No. 8 station were completely eliminated during the operation of the research-based CleanO2 modular installation.
