On January 26, 2025, the first annual meeting of AlmaU Open Library took place.
This event brought together members of the AlmaU Open Library community, university library specialists, the leadership of Almaty Management University, and everyone genuinely interested in the development of education and culture.
The spacious reading hall of the library became a venue for reviewing AlmaU Open Library’s achievements over the past year, discussing future plans, and enjoying vibrant creative performances.
The event began with a warm welcome for guests. Screens displayed the library’s best projects, inspiring new ideas. The Vice-Rector for Student Communication and Development, D. T. Mardanov, delivered an opening speech that set a positive tone for the meeting. AlmaU Library Director Y. V. Kolchina presented the AlmaU Open Library’s annual report, highlighting successful projects, initiatives, and ambitious goals for 2025. The presentation sparked great interest among the guests, and the discussion of future prospects inspired further collaboration.
The cultural program became a true highlight of the event:
- Tomasov, the leader of the “Vegetables and Fruits” band, performed moving songs.
- Poet E. Koroleva recited her original poetry, creating a warm and creative atmosphere.
During the announcement of AlmaU Open Library’s new projects, the guests listened with enthusiasm to:
- A presentation by AlmaU lecturer V. Novikov on artificial intelligence and its applications in modern life.
- A presentation by S. Sibanbayeva, a representative of AlmaU’s School of Digital Technologies, showcasing a computer course for retirees and demonstrating how AlmaU opens new opportunities for different age groups.
- A project by family psychologist and bibliotherapist E. Voronova on bibliotherapy, illustrating how books can improve life and help achieve inner balance.
The interactive part of the event was particularly engaging:
- A flash mob organized by the AlmaU Open Library team energized and delighted the guests.
- The «Biblio Battle»,filled with intriguing questions and memorable prizes, became an exciting intellectual competition.
At the end of the meeting, guests shared their impressions and ideas. D. T. Mardanov and Y. V. Kolchina expressed their gratitude to everyone for contributing to the development of AlmaU Open Library.
The event concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a buffet, where light background music played, and guests continued to discuss ideas and plans.
