On March 18, 2026, AlmaU hosted the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Digital Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” bringing together leading experts, scholars, and practitioners from Kazakhstan and abroad.

The conference was attended by Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dinara Shcheglova, highlighting the high level of state engagement in the development of digital education and the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the higher education system.

In her presentation titled “Implementation of the AI-Sana National Initiative: Development of the Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem in the Higher Education System of Kazakhstan,” Dinara Shcheglova outlined key directions of state policy aimed at developing AI competencies, supporting scientific research, and building a sustainable digital educational ecosystem.

The event became one of the key platforms for discussing the transformation of higher education under the influence of artificial intelligence. The online conference was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, university leaders, and international experts from the United Kingdom, Finland, Malaysia, Australia, and other countries.

The focus was not only on technologies themselves, but also on their impact on the future of education. Participants discussed how AI is transforming approaches to teaching, knowledge assessment, and competency development, as well as the challenges faced by universities in the context of rapid digitalization.

During the plenary sessions, advanced international practices and research were presented, covering:
— integration of artificial intelligence into educational processes
— development of digital and research competencies
— transformation of online learning and personalized learning pathways
— issues of ethics, academic integrity, and GenAI governance

Particular interest was drawn to case studies on integrating AI into the educational environment, where technologies act not only as tools for automation but also as partners in learning and decision-making.

In the second half of the day, the conference continued with thematic sessions dedicated to digital transformation in education, the application of AI, and issues of ethics and policy. Participants presented research findings, practical solutions, and discussed the prospects for developing educational ecosystems.

The conference demonstrated a high level of international cooperation and confirmed Kazakhstan’s growing role as a platform for discussing global educational trends.
