On January 15, 2026, AlmaU welcomed representatives of the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty. The delegation included:

AlmaU presented its vision for developing cooperation with current and potential partners, outlining existing initiatives and plans to strengthen them. In response, representatives of the U.S. Consulate General emphasized their high level of engagement and expressed readiness to support the implementation of joint projects.
During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the upcoming visit of Lehigh University to Almaty, as well as a broad range of areas for cooperation between AlmaU and the U.S. Consulate General. AlmaU shared its plans for expanding international partnerships and emphasized its commitment to deepening long-term collaboration with U.S. universities.
Special attention was given to preparations for the international IAUP conference, which will be hosted by AlmaU in June. Representatives of the Consulate expressed interest in participating and noted the possibility of organizing meetings with guests from the United States within the framework of the conference.
A separate agenda item focused on the partnership between AlmaU and Lehigh University. It was noted that AlmaU’s top management plans to visit the United States in February, while representatives of Lehigh University traditionally visit Almaty each May together with their students. As part of further strengthening the partnership, the parties are considering the creation of a maker space, an initiative that the U.S. Consulate General expressed its willingness to support.
The meeting also touched upon cooperation with other U.S. universities. In particular, current and potential academic contacts were discussed, including negotiations between the AlmaU Institute of Education and George Washington University.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of the U.S. Consulate General invited AlmaU to take part in upcoming consulate events, including student lectures on corporate social responsibility (CSR). The guests also commended AlmaU’s strategic approach to international cooperation and highly appreciated the university’s efforts to explore diverse formats of collaboration aimed at achieving maximum social and educational impact.
The visit marked an important step in strengthening the dialogue between AlmaU and the U.S. Consulate General and confirmed the mutual interest in developing sustainable and effective international partnerships.
