AlmaU is actively engaged in solving the problem of hunger, which is consistent with Sustainable Development Goal 2 (No hunger). As part of its social responsibility, the university implements many initiatives aimed at providing students and staff with high-quality and affordable meals.
University programs to combat hunger
The university has two canteens and three cafeterias offering varied and balanced meals, including options for vegans and vegetarians. Such measures contribute to improving the health of students and university staff, and creating comfortable conditions for study and work, which is an important part of the strategy to eliminate hunger and improve the quality of life on campus. The university also provides access to clean and free drinking water, which contributes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Students and university staff can enjoy fresh, healthy and varied food, which is adapted to all categories of students and university staff.
Every year, AlmaU hosts a special event during Ramadan called “Auyzashar”, where the university offers a free iftar meal to students, staff, and the local community. This tradition is a gesture of kindness and solidarity, bringing together people from different backgrounds to share a meal and break their fast. It reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a sense of unity and giving back to the community, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone during this holy month.
