The Board of Trustees of Almaty Management University (AlmaU) held an extended meeting in South Korea, during which a decision was made to appoint Timur Buldybayev as the new Rector of the university.
Timur Buldybayev has been working at AlmaU since 15 February 2021. Since 1 July 2025, he has held the position of First Vice-Rector, overseeing the university’s strategic development, administrative management, internal quality assurance, and campus development.
Previously, he held leadership positions at the National Center for Scientific and Technical Information of the Science Committee, the Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in the World Bank project “Skills and Jobs” under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Throughout his professional career, he has published seven analytical studies for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), UNESCO, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is also the author of more than thirty-five scientific articles, including publications in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, as well as several monographs. His Scopus and Web of Science h-index is 5.
Buldybayev Timur has actively contributed to the development of key strategic documents of the country, including the State Programs for the Development of Education and Science for 2016–2019 and 2020-2025. Within the framework of scientific initiatives, he served as co-leader of two research programs and co-author of three National Reports on the State and Development of the Education System of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
