Master сlass “Origami – the ancient art of Japan” at AlmaU

16.03.2026

On March 3, AlmaU students and university guests took part in the master class “Origami – the ancient art of Japan,” organized by the student organization Qara da Jasa Club.

The purpose of the event was to introduce participants to the rich history of the Japanese art of origami and to invite them to create a bouquet of paper flowers on their own in anticipation of the coming spring.

During the master class, the organizers demonstrated the basic techniques of paper folding and offered participants the opportunity to choose patterns of different levels of complexity. Students learned about the origins of origami, the development of classical paper-folding techniques, became familiar with the Wet-Folding method, and also discussed the connection between this art and scientific research, including the modeling of DNA structures.

The master class was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants not only gained new knowledge and skills, but also met new people and created handmade souvenirs, which they took home as a memory of the cozy evening.
