AlmaU continues to strengthen its strategic partnership with universities in China. As part of an official working visit to Hangzhou (PRC), AlmaU President Assylbek Kozhakhmetov and Vice-Rector for Global Partnerships Sholpan Tazabek held a meeting with the leadership of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE). Following the meeting, an agreement was signed to launch a double degree program in “International Trade” and “International Law”.
The signing of the agreement marks an important milestone in the development of the strategic partnership between AlmaU and ZUFE and confirms the strong and sustainable cooperation built over recent years. The new program is aimed at preparing internationally qualified specialists capable of working in the context of deepening economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

During the visit, both sides also emphasized the importance of further developing the Silk Road School as an international platform integrating education, research, and industry. They also highlighted the need to expand joint initiatives, including double degree programs, research projects, and talent development for the future economy.
From the ZUFE side, the meeting was attended by members of the university’s leadership, including the President, as well as heads of academic and international departments, underscoring the high level of importance of this cooperation.
The partnership between the two universities is being developed within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative and is implemented through the joint platform Silk Road School, which was officially established in June 2024. The project is aimed at advancing educational, research, and applied initiatives in the fields of digital economy, international trade, and interdisciplinary studies.

The cooperation has already yielded significant results. In particular:
- student academic mobility programs are being actively implemented;
- AlmaU students and staff participate in Summer Camp and Summer School programs at ZUFE, including programs on digital economy and cross-border e-commerce;
- master’s students undertake research internships, while faculty members participate in professional development programs in China;
- joint educational and practice-oriented programs are conducted at AlmaU with the participation of ZUFE professors, including training on global supply chains and cross-border e-commerce;
- AlmaU faculty and staff actively participate in scientific conferences and international academic events organized by ZUFE.
The signing of the double degree agreement represents a new stage in the partnership between AlmaU and ZUFE and makes an important contribution to strengthening educational ties between Kazakhstan and China.
