Almaty Management University held its internal qualifying chess tournament AlmaU Chess Cup 2026, bringing together faculty members and staff in an atmosphere of intellectual competition, team spirit, and friendly engagement.

The tournament was organized to determine the strongest chess players who will join the AlmaU national team to participate in the republican Corporate Chess Cup 2026 tournament, which will be held on May 29 in Astana. The competition has become a platform for demonstrating strategic thinking, concentration, endurance and the ability to make decisions in a limited time.
Chess is widely recognized as a game that develops logic, discipline, and respect for opponents. These qualities are valuable not only at the chessboard, but also in professional life.
In 2026, AlmaU will take part in the annual Republican Tournament of the corporate Chess Cup for the second time. Last year, the AlmaU team represented the University with dignity.

“We support talented young people, including students in grades 11-12. Following the tournament jointly organized by AlmaU and the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, four winners were awarded 100% educational grants. In addition, tournaments for the corporate sector are held through the initiative of the Chess Federation and the World Chess Federation. Last year, our team participated in these competitions for the first time. We are planning to compete again this year, which is why we are holding today’s qualifying tournament. I wish all participants the best of luck!”, – AlmaU Rector Timur Buldybayev.

The winners of AlmaU Chess Cup 2026 are:
1st place – Hamit Daulet
2nd place – Kapyshev Galym
3rd place – Zhubatirov Abdulla

The university administration expressed gratitude to all participants for their enthusiasm, interest in intellectual sports, and contribution to strengthening AlmaU’s corporate culture.

AlmaU Chess Cup 2026 once again demonstrated the university’s commitment not only to academic excellence, but also to initiatives that foster unity, leadership, and a strong professional community.
