AlmaU has been awarded the Bronze Smart Water Zone 2026 recognition for implementing responsible water-use practices and contributing to the promotion of sustainable water resource management.
The Smart Water Zone project is supported by Coca-Cola, Green Urban Association, GPI Group, and the Information and Analytical Center for Water Resources. The initiative aims to help organizations reduce their water footprint, adopt sustainable water management practices, and raise environmental awareness.
The Bronze recognition confirms that AlmaU has successfully taken its first practical steps toward responsible water consumption. The University continues to advance its ESG agenda and integrate sustainability principles into both its educational environment and operational activities.
A significant contribution to the initiative was made by the Sustainable Development Center under the leadership of AlmaU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Sholpan Tazabek. Participation in Smart Water Zone marks another important step in AlmaU’s efforts to promote sustainable development principles and responsible resource consumption.
Receiving the Smart Water Zone certificate further demonstrates AlmaU’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). The University will continue implementing initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental responsibility, promoting efficient resource use, and fostering a sustainable campus culture.
