From June 4 to 7, AlmaU hosted the 4th International Conference on the Eurasian Political Economy of Development. On behalf of the university, participants and guests were welcomed by Renata Kudaybergenova, Vice-Rector for Research and Commercialization at AlmaU.

The conference brought together leading scholars in political science and economics from Kazakhstan, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Russia.

Participants presented the latest research findings on the resilience of political systems, the impact of historical legacies on contemporary political processes, the role of social media in political communication, international aid and cross-border trade, the measurement of social preferences and societal processes, as well as empirical analyses of market efficiency.

Particular attention was drawn to the keynote presentations by Professor David Szakonyi, who discussed contemporary understandings of technocracy in government, and Professor Moses Shayo, who presented economic approaches to the study of social identity.

As is tradition, the conference concluded with an outdoor program in the Ile-Alatau National Park, where participants climbed Furmanov Peak.

More information about the conference, its program, keynote speakers, and research tracks is available on the official Polecon website.
