Two students from Almaty Management University (AlmaU) delivered outstanding performances at prestigious international sporting events, earning gold and silver medals and proudly representing Kazakhstan on the Asian stage.
Alikhan Aitkazy, a second-year student in AlmaU’s Public Relations program, claimed the victory title at the Asian Cup Cadets & Junior Hong Kong 2026, held on July 18–19 in Hong Kong. The tournament brought together more than 250 athletes from 14 countries.
Competing in the under-73 kg weight category, Alikhan confidently advanced through every round, defeating opponents from Australia, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, and other participating nations. In the final, he secured victory by ippon in just 11 seconds, earning the tournament’s gold medal.
Another medal for Kazakhstan came from Alisher Sakimov, a second-year student in AlmaU’s Business Administration in the Field of Entrepreneurship program. He won the silver medal at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Almaty and attended by nearly 1,000 athletes from 25 countries.
On his way to the final, Alisher defeated competitors from India, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Tajikistan, and the United Arab Emirates before finishing second on the podium, demonstrating an exceptional level of preparation.
Both athletes successfully combine professional sports careers with their studies at AlmaU. Their achievements contributed to Kazakhstan’s strong performance at major international competitions and once again highlighted the country’s high standards in martial arts.
These victories are not only significant personal accomplishments but also an important contribution to strengthening Kazakhstan’s sporting reputation on the international stage.
