From 20 to 24 July 2026, representatives of Almaty Management University (AlmaU) – Ainur Zhubanova, Gulden Zhasharalina, and Raushan Akimbek – participated in International Staff Week 2026, hosted by the University of Minho (UMinho) in Braga, Portugal, under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training programme. The event brought together representatives from universities across 23 countries, providing an excellent platform for professional exchange and the development of international partnerships.
The programme focused on the internationalization of higher education, digital transformation, inclusive educational practices, and the development of international projects. Participants introduced their home institutions, learned about the University of Minho, and attended a series of thematic seminars and practical workshops.
One of the highlights of the programme was the workshop “Let’s Submit an Erasmus+ Capacity Building Project,” where participants explored the principles of developing Erasmus+ projects, proposal preparation requirements, and worked in international teams to design project ideas related to artificial intelligence in education, sustainable development, and climate change.
During the “Communication and Intercultural Practices” seminar, participants discussed the principles of intercultural communication and exchanged experiences and cultural traditions from their respective countries. AlmaU representatives also attended a practical Portuguese language session, as well as seminars on gender equality, non-discrimination, inclusive communication, and supporting students during academic mobility.
The programme also included a meeting with Mrs. Sandra Fernandes, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the University of Minho, where participants learned more about the university’s international engagement. In addition, they visited the Braga Public Library, gaining insights into the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
Participation in International Staff Week enabled AlmaU staff to enhance their professional competencies, explore international best practices in university management and academic mobility, and strengthen partnerships with the University of Minho and other higher education institutions worldwide. At the conclusion of the programme, all participants were awarded certificates of completion.
