On October 21, 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between AlmaU and the Executive Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) in the Republic of Kazakhstan at Almaty Management University (AlmaU).
Serikaliy Mukhametkarimovich Mukatayev, Director of the IFAS Executive Board in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Diana Malikovna Burlibayeva, Head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Development, arrived at the university on a working visit. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for joint activities in the areas of ecology, sustainable development, and water resources in Central Asia. The signed Memorandum provides for the development of research initiatives, the implementation of educational and outreach projects, and the involvement of AlmaU students and young researchers in practical programs aimed at preserving the region’s natural ecosystems.
The International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) is an intergovernmental organization established in 1993 by the countries of Central Asia to coordinate efforts to overcome the environmental and socioeconomic consequences of the Aral Sea crisis. Today, the Fund implements large-scale programs in the areas of sustainable water resource management, environmental protection, and improving the quality of life of the
region’s population.
