On September 19, 2026, AlmaU hosted a series of events as part of its strategic partnership with Freedom Insurance, bringing together the opening of a new branded classroom, the launch of the AlmaU Finance Club 2026-2027 season, and a presentation of grant opportunities for students.
One of the key events of the day was the official opening of the Freedom Insurance branded classroom at AlmaU.
The new space is designed for classes, meetings between students and industry representatives, expert sessions, master classes, and other practice-oriented activities.
The opening ceremony was attended by the leadership of AlmaU and Freedom Insurance, faculty members, students, and invited guests.
AlmaU President Asylbek Kozhakmetov highlighted the importance of the university’s cooperation with the financial industry and the development of modern educational infrastructure that enables students to gain practical experience and engage with the professional community while still studying.
Representing Freedom Insurance, Azamat Kerimbayev, Chairman of the Management Board of Freedom Insurance JSC, delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of the partnership with AlmaU, the development of educational initiatives, and the creation of new opportunities for young professionals.
Congratulatory remarks were also delivered by Kadyzhan Damitov, Advisor to the President of AlmaU, Timur Abilkasymov, First Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and Raushan Sadykova, Acting Dean of the School of Digital Technologies and Economics.
Following the official ceremony, guests visited the new classroom and learned more about its opportunities for the educational process.
AlmaU Finance Club launches a new season
The program continued with the official opening of the new AlmaU Finance Club 2026-2027 season.
Opening the new season, AlmaU Finance Club Chairman Daniil Khazin presented the club’s key areas of activity and plans for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Raushan Sadykova, Acting Dean of the School of Digital Technologies and Economics, spoke about the development of the finance field at AlmaU, the role of professional student organizations in the educational process, and the importance of practical training for students.
Kadyzhan Damitov, Advisor to the President of AlmaU, emphasized the role of university-business cooperation and professional student communities in creating career opportunities for young professionals.
Special attention during the event was given to the development of Insurance Business Literacy – an understanding of the principles and mechanisms of the insurance business among specialists from different professional backgrounds.
As part of the partnership between AlmaU and Freedom Insurance JSC, a comprehensive talent development system is being formed, combining educational programs and practical opportunities. Today, it includes a Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, the Minor Digital Insurance program, a specialized Master’s program in Finance, internships and practical training, guest lectures, expert sessions, and interaction between students and industry representatives.
This approach allows students to become familiar with the industry at different stages of their education and gradually develop the professional competencies required to work in the financial and insurance sectors.
International Expertise: Actuarial Practice and Risk Management
A separate part of the program was an expert meeting with international actuary Joana Amorim. Participants discussed modern actuarial practice, the role of actuaries in the insurance business, financial risk management, and the competencies in demand across the industry.
For students, the meeting provided an opportunity to learn about international professional practices and gain a deeper understanding of career paths in insurance and risk management.
Freedom Insurance Grants: new opportunities for students
Another important event was the presentation of grant opportunities from Freedom Insurance JSC. Participants learned about joint educational opportunities, including a competition for grants to pursue a Master’s degree in Finance, as well as further opportunities for professional development.
The event also featured the official presentation of certificates to the winners of the grant competition among undergraduate students.
The insurance company’s presentation concluded with the words of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai: “May the word of the knowledgeable reach those who strive for knowledge.”
