AlmaU has been named among six finalists from around the world in the Best CSR and Sustainability Initiative category of the prestigious international AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2027.
The category recognizes business schools that systematically integrate the principles of sustainability and social responsibility into education and make a practical and measurable contribution to society.
AlmaU’s submission highlighted the university’s systematic work in the field of sustainable development, including the activities of the Sustainable Development Center, the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into education and research, partnerships with government institutions, businesses and international organizations, as well as the implementation of environmental and social initiatives.
One of the key projects featured in the submission was Syr Qorany – Sekseýil, AlmaU’s annual initiative aimed at restoring the ecosystem of the Aral Sea. In 2024-2025, university students and partners planted more than 23,000 saxaul seedlings, bringing together environmental volunteering, practical learning and cross-sector collaboration.
Alongside AlmaU, business schools from Spain, Ireland, India, China and Morocco were shortlisted in the category.
AlmaU’s place in the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2027 final reflects international recognition of the university’s contribution to advancing responsible management education and promoting the sustainable development agenda in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
