On September 21, 2026, as part of a working visit to Warsaw, Asylbek Kozhakhmetov, President of AlmaU, and Dayana Balgabekova, Director of the Institute of Education, visited Janusz Korczak University – Academy of Applied Sciences.
The visit included an official meeting with the university’s leadership and representatives. The key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a foundation for further cooperation between the two universities.

Representing Janusz Korczak University, the meeting was attended by Professor Mirosław Grewiński, Rector of Janusz Korczak University in Warsaw; Agata Jastrzębowska, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Adam Nyckowski, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Barbara Skałbania, Director of the Studies Department; Dariusz Budrowski, Director of the Projects Department; Marek Kawa, International Relations Coordinator; and Agnieszka Wander, International Relations and Erasmus+ Coordinator.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in student and staff mobility, as well as joint initiatives in the fields of education, pedagogy, and management.
Particular attention was given to the educational legacy of Janusz Korczak. The AlmaU delegation attended a presentation by Professor Barbara Skałbania on Korczak’s educational philosophy, his approach to children and children’s rights, and the relevance of his ideas to contemporary education.
The programme continued with a visit to Korczakowska Szkoła Marzeń, a school in Warsaw where Janusz Korczak’s educational principles are implemented in everyday educational practice.

Janusz Korczak was a prominent Polish educator, physician, and writer whose educational philosophy was based on respect for the child as an individual and recognition of their dignity and rights. His educational legacy continues to influence contemporary approaches to education and upbringing.
The visit marked an important step in developing a long-term partnership between AlmaU and Janusz Korczak University, opening new opportunities for joint educational projects and further academic cooperation.
