What are we really breathing in Almaty? Who is polluting the air, and what can we do about it?
At the next AlmaU Zertteu Talks session, we will discuss air quality in Almaty, scientific research into environmental issues, and how to pursue a career in science for years, compete for research grants, publish academic papers, and avoid burnout along the way.
Speaker: Nasiba Baimatova, PhD, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Head of the Environmental & Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (Farabi Chem Science Cluster, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).
Topics for discussion:
- What is actually polluting Almaty’s air?
- What do scientific studies reveal, and which data can we trust?
- What can we change?
- How can researchers avoid losing themselves in the race for research results, publications, and grants?
This is not a traditional academic lecture, but an open discussion where participants can ask questions, debate, share their views, and connect with like-minded people.
