On May 16, the opening ceremony of the AlmaU Alumni Alley took place at Medeu Park.
As part of the initiative, university leadership, staff, and alumni planted 100 Malus Sieversii apple trees – a symbol of Kazakhstan’s natural heritage and intergenerational continuity. The event brought together members of the university community, alumni, and their families around the shared values of environmental responsibility and a sustainable future.
The first tree was planted by AlmaU Rector Timur Buldybayev. Significant support for the project implementation was provided by Vice Rector for Communications and Student Development Didar Mardanov and Vice Rector for Global Partnership Sholpan Tazabek.
The project was initiated and led by Zhaniya Khaibullina, Director of the Sustainable Development Center at AlmaU. The university also expresses special gratitude to the AlmaU Alumni Development Center and its Head, Zhansaya Seilkhanova, for their contribution to organizing the event.
Representatives of AlmaU Mountain Club, graduates of the AlmaU Career Accelerator, and members of the eco-club of School-Gymnasium No. 148 also joined the environmental initiative.
The creation of the Alumni Alley became another important step for AlmaU in promoting environmental culture, strengthening the university community, and supporting the principles of sustainable development.
