AlmaU case arouses interest at International Forum

September 15, 2023

According to the World Bank, Kazakhstan is one of the most dynamically developing economies in Central Asia. The internal forum ‘The Great Eurasian Partnership in the Period of Global Transformations’ provided an ideal platform for discussion and the exchanging of ideas in the format of a live discourse.

The forum is dedicated to discussing the issues, challenges, and methods of Eurasian integration, as well as the role of Kazakhstan in contemporary international relations. Particular emphasis was placed on the prospects of Kazakhstan’s development in the era of global transformation, and the coordination of national interests in global governance.

The daughter of K.I. Satpayev, Jamila Jamila Kanyshevna, took part in the forum as an honorary guest. She shared her own memories of her father, the great scientist. When speaking about the condition of modern science, she indicated that it is developing dynamically.

Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Agency for Innovative Development, ‘QazInnovations JSC’, Akhanov Sanat Zholdyhanovich, made a presentation on the subject of ‘Digital Transformations of the Economy; the use of new contemporary technology and Kazakhstan’s competitive strength in the global arena.”

Then, Abdilda Shamenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors for ‘Science Foundation JSC’, spoke about ‘The Commercial Potential of Technology, with the support of Science Foundation’.

Almaty Management University acted as the co-organiser of this forum. The Vice-Rector for Science, Bakytzhan Sarkeev, talked about the history of the university and presented its strategies. He discussed 3 of the missions of the university in detail:

  1. Education
  2. Research
  3. Interaction with Society

“Today I want to talk about the third mission of any university, using AlmaU as an example. Within the framework of this mission, we strive to bring attention to the real problems of society, to provide direct support to people from underprivileged social groups and to distribute information about new approaches, tools and methodologies that can have a beneficial impact on society,” said the Vice-Rector for Science, Bakytzhan Sarkeev.

AlmaU makes an interesting case for supporting education in rural areas. For example, the multi-disciplinary college ‘Zeynep’ was established in 2022 on the site of the former Lobanovsky Rural College, and with the support of the founders of AlmaU and the International Academy of Business. This year, a summer school was organised at Zeynep College, aimed at school staff and managers and teachers of international educational institutions. Since 2009 it has trained more than 500 teachers and school principals, and designed programs for the development of pedagogical and managerial skills.

The Great Eurasian Partnerships is an international forum organized for the discussions of important matters relating to science, technology, and innovation in the interest of business and the state. The forum attracts government officials, university administrations and leading experts, scientists, and diplomats in the field of international collaboration in Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Central-Asian regions, Pacific Asia, and Southeast Asia.
