On October 2, 2026, Almaty Management University (AlmaU) hosted the literary and philosophical dialogue “The World of Rollan Seisenbayev”, dedicated to the 80thanniversary of Rollan Seisenbayev, a renowned Kazakh writer, playwright, public and cultural figure, and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by AlmaU’s “Uly Dala Akademiyasy” Research Center and the International Abai Club.
The event brought together representatives of the literary, academic and creative communities, as well as university students. Participants discussed the writer’s literary legacy, philosophical views, contribution to national culture, and the relevance of his works to contemporary readers.
The dialogue featured renowned poet, writer, journalist and translator Korganbek Amanzhol, writer, screenwriter, producer and film director Marat Konyrоv, Chief Editor of Kazakh Literature Bauyrzhan Zhakyp, traditional singer and master’s student at Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory Zhaina Targynova, Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Doctor of Philological Sciences Alua Temirbolat, as well as Doctor of Sociological Sciences Aigul Saduakassova.
A special part of the program was a meeting between AlmaU students and Rollan Seisenbayev. The students had an opportunity to meet the writer in person, speak with him and share their impressions of his works. For the students, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the books they had read directly with the author and gain a new perspective on the themes explored in his works.
“For me, it is particularly important that this dialogue brings together not only members of the professional literary and academic community, but also students. Literature continues to live when there is a genuine dialogue between the author, their works and a new generation of readers,” said Rollan Seisenbayev.
According to the organizers, holding the dialogue at AlmaU was part of the activities of the “Uly Dala Akademiyasy” Research Center, aimed at preserving and promoting Kazakhstan’s national cultural and intellectual heritage.
“We are pleased to hold this meeting at AlmaU. For the Uly Dala Akademiyasy Research Center, it is important to create a space where representatives of literature and academia can engage in open dialogue with the younger generation and exchange ideas. It is especially valuable that today students had the opportunity to meet Rollan Seisenbayev in person, ask questions and share their perspectives on his works,” said Renata Kudaibergenova, Vice-Rector for Science and Commercialization at AlmaU.
The event, held as part of the celebrations marking Rollan Seisenbayev’s 80th anniversary, provided an opportunity to revisit his literary legacy and discuss ideas explored in his works that remain relevant to contemporary society.
