On May 16, the opening of the AlmaU Alumni Alley will take place at Medeu Park (Muztau microdistrict). This is a public educational project that brings together the university’s values, cultural heritage, and principles of sustainable development.
The Alumni Alley is a symbolic space based on the image of the apple tree – a key symbol of Almaty and AlmaU. It represents growth, continuity, and long-term development, reflecting the journey of a graduate from gaining knowledge to making a professional and social contribution.
As part of the event, alumni, students, and university representatives will plant apple trees together, creating a “living heritage.” Each tree will symbolize a personal story, values, and a contribution to future generations.
The project aims to build a sustainable connection between alumni and AlmaU by creating a meaningful public space that strengthens alumni identity, fosters a culture of continuity, and promotes environmental responsibility.
The value foundation and meaning of the project are built around the ideas of generational continuity, respect for nature, and community unity. Planting a tree is seen as a symbolic and spiritual act that reflects responsibility for the future. The Alley brings together personal stories of alumni into a shared space where the past, present, and future are connected through common values and contributions to society.
The principle “If you cut one tree, plant ten” reflects a deep philosophy of caring for nature and human responsibility for the environment. It highlights the importance of conscious actions aimed at preserving and enhancing the natural balance for future generations.
The Alley will become a long-term platform for uniting generations, hosting events, and contributing to the development of Almaty’s urban environment.
