AlmaU actively contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and sanitation), which aims to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all. The university has free drinking fountains with clean water, as well as boilers for drinking water. The water comes from a filter system that goes through 3 stages of purification, which creates comfortable conditions for students and employees, and emphasizes the importance of resource availability.

University programs to ensure access to clean water

Filtration systems are specially designed for catering establishments and canteens. Water consumption is regulated by monthly bills received from the central city water supply system.
Sectional toilet flushing devices are installed in most of the campus restrooms. Students and staff are advised to conserve water. The AlmaU Central Sewerage system is connected to the Central Urban Sewerage System of Almaty, which has a multi-stage bio-mechanical filtration. Certified environmentally friendly detergents and biologics are used in cleaning the campus. Students and staff are advised to conserve water.
