Syr qorǵany – sekseýil: Restoring the Degraded Aral Sea Region

The Syr qorǵany – sekseýil initiative is one of AlmaU’s flagship environmental and social projects. Launched in March 2024, it focuses on restoring degraded landscapes in the Aral Sea region through the planting of saxaul, a drought-tolerant plant adapted to arid environments.

Expansion of Aral Sea Restoration Activities in 2025

In 2025, AlmaU students joined an international environmental campaign organised by the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and Freedom Bank. The wider campaign involved the planting of 18,000 saxaul seedlings across 60 hectares.

International Recognition: Trophées des Entreprises 2025

On 18 December 2025, AlmaU announced that Syr qorǵany – sekseýil had received an award in the Actions RSE / ESGcategory at Trophées des Entreprises 2025. The awards were organised by the France–Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
