Representatives of Almaty Management University (AlmaU) have made a significant contribution to the implementation of the Global Social Impact Fellowship (GSIF), an international program conducted in collaboration with Lehigh University (USA).
As part of the program, AlmaU representatives served as mentors to student teams working on projects aimed at addressing pressing social, environmental, and technological challenges in Kazakhstan. The program brought together students, researchers, and experts from different countries to develop practical and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges.
AlmaU faculty and staff played an important role in supporting the participating teams. Dinara Tumabekova, Assistant Professor at AlmaU, mentored the Central Asian Researchers Network team.

Daulet Sabyr, Director of the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence in Industry, supervised the Swello and Save Tuba projects. Zhaniya Khaibullina, Director of the AlmaU Sustainability Center, guided the PureSpaces team.

With the support and expertise of their mentors, the teams conducted field research, strengthened engagement with local communities and stakeholders, and advanced the development of solutions addressing contemporary sustainable development challenges.
Following the completion of the program, Dinara Tumabekova and Daulet Sabyr received Certificates of Achievement in recognition of their successful mentorship during the GSIF fieldwork conducted in collaboration with students and faculty from Lehigh University. Their contributions to social innovation, intercultural collaboration, ethical engagement, and the development of context-appropriate solutions for sustainable development in Kazakhstan were particularly recognized.
The participation of AlmaU representatives in the GSIF program reflects the university’s commitment to advancing international cooperation, supporting experiential and project-based learning, and promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Initiatives such as GSIF create valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, research capacity building, and the strengthening of global partnerships that contribute to positive social impact.
