AlmaU supports integrity and institutional accountability through governance structures, anti-corruption education, research and participation.

Activities and documented evidence

Institutional Governance and Accountability

AlmaU maintains a system of university governance that includes the Board of Trustees, Academic Council, Rectorate and other collegial bodies. These structures provide mechanisms for strategic planning, academic oversight, stakeholder engagement and institutional decision-making.

Public Trust and Social Capital: An Established International Conference

Since 2020, AlmaU has organised the International Conference “Public Trust and Social Capital.” The conference provides a platform for dialogue among academics, researchers, public officials, civil society representatives, business leaders and students.

AlmaU Trust Barometer 2025: Research on Institutional Trust

The AlmaU Trust Barometer examines patterns of trust and social capital, including the perspectives of young people in Kazakhstan. Results presented at the December 2025 conference addressed the relationship between young people, educational institutions, digital information environments and opportunities for social participation.

Anti-Corruption Education and Public Dialogue

AlmaU supports anti-corruption education through academic programmes, research and public events involving legal professionals and institutional stakeholders.

Academic Integrity and Ethical Conduct

AlmaU maintains formal rules governing academic integrity. The University’s Rules of Academic Integrity define principles of academic honesty, the responsibilities of students and academic staff, types of violations and procedures for responding to misconduct.

Ombudsman: Confidential Dialogue and Informal Conflict Resolution

AlmaU established its Ombudsman institution in 2014. The Ombudsman provides an informal and confidential environment where students, faculty members and employees can discuss concerns related to university life.

Student Self-Government and Participation

AlmaU promotes student participation through student organisations, the Student Council and institutional support structures. The University’s Regulations on the Student Council, published in 2024, establish principles of student representation, self-government and collective decision-making.
