Admission conditions

Admissions Committee

 

Admission to Bachelor’s programmes is based on the applicants’ application, on a competitive basis in accordance with the admission rules:

Application period – 18 June – 25 August

Admission requirements:

You will need to score over 60 points 

Exception:

Law – 75 points

Business Administration – 80 points

The pass mark for paid admission is 60 points and a minimum of 5 points in each subject (except for mathematics and reading literacy – 3 points).

List of documents required for admission:

1.Identity document (original and copy)

2.Original document on general secondary, technical and vocational education (certificate/diploma with attachment);

3.6 photos (size 3×4);

4.Medical certificate of the form 075-U (with a fluorography photo);

5.Health passport (or vaccination card of 063 form);

6.Certificate of Unified National Testing – UNT;

7.Enrolment certificate (for young men);

8.Copy of the child’s birth certificate when signing the agreement on educational services by one of the parents for a child under 18 years of age;

9.EDS.

You will also need to scan all of the above documents to expedite the application process.

Creative exam requirements:

Application period:

  • From June 20 to July 7, 2024 — for students who got the educational grant
  • Until August 7, 2024 — for fee-paying students

Dates of creative presentation exams (select one round):

  • The first round: from July 8 to July 12, 2024
  • The second round: from August 8 to August 14, 2024

Special conditions for students who got the educational grant:

Exams must be taken in the first round on July 8-12, 2024.

Exam requirements: Each major includes 2 creative presentation exams

Admission conditions for foreign citizens:

During the summer admission period (18 June – 25 August).

1.It is necessary to pass an online interview via Zoom, MS Teams platform with representatives of the Schools you plan to apply to;

2.After you will need to submit a full list of original documents to us in the Admissions Committee in person.

List of required documents:

  1. Application to the Rector (to be filled in at the Admissions Committee);
  2. Document on general secondary, technical and vocational, post-secondary or higher education (original) with a notarized translation into Kazakh (state) and/or Russian;
  3. A foreign passport and its copy with a notarized translation into Kazakh and/or Russian;
  4. 6 photo cards of 3 x 4 centimeters in size;
  5. Medical certificate in the form 075-U (with a fluorography photo);
  6. A certificate on the presence or absence of a criminal record.

Note:

Documents submitted in a foreign language must have a notarized translation into the Kazakh, English or Russian language. Documents on education, issued by foreign educational organizations, undergo the procedure of nostrification in the order established by the legislation after enrolment of persons, during the first semester of study.

Please note!

Foreign citizens are admitted without entrance examinations or UNT on the basis of an interview!

After a successful interview you will have to leave the country during the period of stay in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan without a residence permit, and when we make an official invitation for you, you, having received it by mail, come back to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan already in the status of a student.

Admission requirements for the English Department:

Minimum threshold score for admission to the English Department:

IELTS – 5.5

TOEFL ITP – 460

TOEFL IBT – 87

TOEFL – 560

In case these certificates are not available, an internal language examination is taken at the University.

Exam format: offline/online

The admission process after graduating from college:

Admission in a major:

If the chosen major is related to one that you graduated from college, admission is carried out through an internal exam (essay, interview or testing).

Length of schooling – 2-3 years depending on the major.

Internal exams are held from June 20 to August 25.

Changing the major:

If you plan to change your major, admission is carried out in the same way as for school graduates who have passed the Unified National Testing (UNT) in five subjects.

Length of schooling – 3 years.

Submission of documents:

From June 20 to August 25 in offline format at the address: 227 Rozybakiev Str., Almaty.

Stages of registration:

  • Conclusion of the contract;
  • Payment for tuition (the first tranche until August 25);
  • Start of studying.

In order to enter the Master’s programme, you need to take the Comprehensive Test (CT) in the summer period by pre-registering on the website testcenter.kz.

State grants are allocated only for Scientific and Pedagogical direction!

 

 

Dates of the Complex Testing:

18 June – 25 August – work of the summer Admissions Committee

10 June – 15 July – registration on the site testcenter.kz

20 July – 15 August – taking the CT (offline).

CT entrance examinations for the RTM:

For Research and Teaching Masters (RTM)

75 of 150 – a minimum of 7 points in RLT and profile disciplines;

25 – in English;

 

Will need to pass:

1.Foreign language test includes: a. listening; b. vocabulary-grammar; c. reading.

2.Test to determine readiness for learning: a. Critical thinking; b. Analytical thinking.

3.Test on the profile of the group of educational programs: 2 profile disciplines.

Number of test tasks – 130

Testing time – 235 minutes (3 hours 55 minutes)

Passing score – 75 points out of 150.

State grants are allocated only for the Scientific and pedagogical direction!

 

CT entrance examinations for PM:

Profile Masters (PM).

Passing score – 30 points out of 70.

The CT consists of:

Test on the profile of the group of educational programs: 2 profile disciplines.

Number of test tasks – 70

Testing time – 160 min (2 hours 40 min)

Please note!

The training format is blended (offline/online). Offline courses take place in  1, 8 and 15 weeks of the course.

In case you have a first university degree, you will need to pass a number of entrance prerequisites (3 disciplines) during your studies.

101 points for Jurisprudence

The process for applying for a state grant is as follows:

  1. Preparation for UNT, taking mock tests (January-April)
  2. Registration and passing the UNT for the grant (May – June) – Submission of the application for the grant through the University Admissions Office / egov.kz in the period from 13 to 20 July – Receipt of the results of the drawing of state grants (August).

During participation in the state grants competition, the following parameters are taken into account:

1.The UNT score for the grant

2.The average score of the certificate

3.Presence of prizes / awards for participation in subject international / republican Olympiads

4.Presence of social category
